ELEMENTS OF THE SEASON HARVEY NICHOLS DUBAI AW14 FASHION SHOW

A night full of glitz and glam as the Dubai’s premier department store Harvey Nichols presented a chic, sophisticated mood showcasing the key fashion elements of the Autumn / Winter 2014 season at the luxurious hotel, Sofitel on the legendary man-made island The Palm Jumeirah last 7th of September 2014.  The show was also the “avant premiere” show for Gucci’s highly anticipated makeup line: Gucci Beauty, giving the world a sneak preview of what can be expected from the luxury brand’s first venture into the beauty industry.
Harvey Nichols host to more than five hundred of Dubai’s most stylish socialites. Sleek and dark, the focal point of the room was a luminous wall of water slicing the runway down the middle; creating a beautiful backdrop to the stunning designs featured in the show. Inspired by the runways of Paris, London, Milan and New York, the show was a careful curation of the most coveted brands and pieces, put together to emanate a sophisticated style that has become the signature of Harvey Nichols – Dubai.

The show started with a beautiful projection on the water wall in the middle of the runway and opened with the season’s essentials – a slew of layered looks, suitable for everyday wear. Oversized coats, parkas, chunky knits from brands such as Alexander Wang, Sacai, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Carven, Designers Remix and Chloe provided a non-fussy but fashionable aesthetic.

A dimming of lights was followed by a new projection of bright blooms onto the water wall, signalling the start of the second segment of the show.

One of the strongest trends of the AW14 season – Floral Blooms – was showcased using a darker, edgier palette from brands such as Givenchy, Erdem, Emanuel Ungaro, Peter Pilotto, Stella Jean and Marni differentiating it from the floral trend that was seen in previous seasons.

The third and fourth segments of the show demonstrated other major trends of the season; embellishment, fringes and feathers in bold colours and metallic hues from brands such as Stella McCartney, Tamara Mellon, Sarah Battaglia, Moschino and Alexander McQueen.

And here are my top picks from the Mens wear, the splash of colors from casual day-out and to dapper classic pieces, every savvy gent in town should have!
First dashing look Sweater: Vivienne Westwood Shoes: High tops Givenchy, and the second look Sweater & Trousers: Lot 78 Leather Jacket: Givenchy Shoes: Moncler and the last look Shirt: McQ Trousers: Markus Lupfer Shoes: Givenchy high tops
And my most favorite part of the show, presenting the dashing dapper pieces absolutely stunning collection from Neil Barrett, Givenchy and Alexander McQueen
Slavko Moljac wearing Versus Versace on the first look and the second is Whole look:Alexander McQueen Shoes: Corneliani
Starting with the ethereal projection of a model in an evening gown underwater, Harvey Nichols – Dubai showcased the most beautiful and coveted eveningwear creations in the industry from designer brands such as Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta, Zuhair Murad and Monique Lhullier.

The post-event reception was a stylish affair with live music provided by the popular and fashionable international DJ blogger sisters of Five Five Fabulous.

A selection of gourmet savoury and sweet canapés were served as the guests mingled and enjoyed the elegant ambience late into the night.
Stylish folks at the after party Andrew, Sam Francis, John Baker and Mark Ross
Having a great time with Rami Yassine
with the fierce Anne Marie who always look dashing in her leather dress and sleek brush up red hair and the python clutch, impeccably stunning as always!
And most especially the Lady who always have the spotlight, the star of the night Natalia Shustova Dubai based lawyer/ fashion consultant & editor/ socialite and founder of #Shoestova
Absolutely a spectacular show well, what do we always expect with Harvey Nichols but simply the best and fab.

COMPLETE THE JIGSAW PUZZLE

There has been an evolution in menswear as internationally the power of mens’ spend increases - it feels good to look good. Conversely the want for the flashy, over-logoed, overplayed has declined. Style arbiters are looking for the anti-show, the anonymous, clothing that speaks through both simplicity and quality.

To kick of the month of September in the 40th Floor of Media One Hotel with a cosy, modern and urban theme showroom, JIGSAW have launched their Autumn- Winter Collection which i found absolutely stunning, dapper pieces definitely suit my style. Through out my blogging life its been very obvious that i am really obsessed with blazers that's why Jigsaw just tempted my soul on having them on my closet.
For Autumn/Winter Jigsaw help to cultivate the classic – not boring and staid but understated, luxe and defined.  Traditional fabrics seem somehow cooler worked into a wardrobe with simple cotton separates whether shirts, T-shirts or jeans.  Frances Walker, Jigsaw’s Menswear Design Director, takes inspiration from the art world artist citing Alice Neil’s intense oil on canvas portraits of family, friends and strangers and Anne Marie Rose’s subtle watercolour fashion illustrations as providing clarity to the vision.
Jigsaw continues to work only with the finest of fabrics: Merino wool – regarded as one of the softest - is a lynch pin of the collection and many knits also contain cashmere adding that touch of indulgence. Look for tailored knits in blazer-style cardigans, the new mock-neck jumper perfect for under suits, and jackets and slim trousers that skim the ankle to show off our continued collaboration with Sanders Shoes.
With a seasonal palette of deep royal hues, surprising pops of purple, claret and deep forest green sitting alongside navy and greys tones which continues into the finest socks produced by Corgi in Wales as well as gloves and scarves from Robert Macki.  Attention to detail is paramount still with functioning button cuffs, stitched shirt plackets, and invisible collar buttons. It’s the look of understated cool; the considered design that sets us apart from the rest of the British high street.

While browsing their stunning collection, mesmerized by the magnificent view of the Palm Jumeirah and enjoying the sumptuous treats and drinks.

FUEL IT UP WITH DIESEL AW14

Denim, leather and military, the foundations of DIESEL that fuel its creative DNA, define DIESEL's Fall Winter 2014 men's and women's collections. Inspired by contemporary and natural worlds, artistic director Nicola Formichetti edges the brand's core aesthetic into new ground for a lineup of formidable yet wearable clothes created with DIESEL's unmistakable signatures.
Monday, 1st of September at the Media One Hotel, DIESEL launched their Coachella inspired pieces and truly a work of art shown in every designs. The Military details, olive green earthy colors from top to bottom and leather pieces are such a statement.
This season we explored the other side of DIESEL, which is fun loving, and a little bit of ironic- it's very free spirited. We imagined who we are: urban nomads who travel around the world, and go to different music festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury.
-DIESEL-

Iconic designs, metallic embellishments on leather jacket and bags are truly iconic, the eccentric style giving a rocker urban look.
Diesel has long been a leading pioneer in denim and casual fashion, known for moving outside and ahead of trends in its industry. While retaining always its DNA, in recent years Diesel has evolved into the world of premium casual wear, becoming a true alternative to the established luxury market.

Sumptuous treat carted by caféM, Media One Hotel

Photography by Mark Ross

What i wore: Blazer & Pants (H&M), WaistCoat (Zara), T-shirt & Watch (GUESS?), Pocket Square, Button Lapel Pin & Socks (Ted Baker), Shoes & Belt (ICONIC), Sunglass (H.E. by Mango)

Last Wednesday, 6th of August Ted Baker recently launch their AW14 collection and the theme was "Take The Lead" classy, edgy and dandy, so i decided to wear a little bit well- choreographed outfit but just a kick of casual look, i started with this great trousers, paired with a white tee and took it the the next level by layering this combined waistcoat from Zara and top it off with a classic navy blazer, accentuate by printed pocket square and button lapel pin from Ted Baker and to look more classy with an edge this heart printed socks are just dope and by pairing it with this brown brogues to finishes the entire look.
